Portugal's Traffic Lights Punish Speeding

In many Portuguese towns, the traffic light ahead watches your speed.

From the video's description

In many Portuguese towns, the traffic light ahead watches your speed. Come in faster than the limit and it turns red, just for you.

How it works: wire loops in the road (or a radar) measure your speed, and a microprocessor switches the light to red if you are faster than the set speed. Signs saying "velocidade controlada" warn you at least 200 m before.
