What those yellow bumps actually mean
Roll a suitcase over these yellow bumps and the wheels start to rattle.

They're tactile paving, a message for blind and partially sighted people: round dots mean stop, because a road or a platform edge is right ahead, and long lines mean keep walking this way. The idea started in Okayama, Japan, in 1967 and is now used in more than 75 countries.
